BROOKS CUP, HOKITIKA (2) V. REEFTQN (lj, A good attendance at the 'Reefton racecourse on Wednesday says the Reefion "Times’', saw Hokitika (challengers), defeat Reef ton (holders) by two goals to one after a fast evenly contested game. Mrs 1, Butson and M, Hughes scored for the winners and A. Patterson for Reefton, Hokitika field', d a very even team of fast strong hitting players and although giving many penalties showed better finish than Reefton, jvho, owing to sickness were unable to play their strongest team, a reshuffling of players upsetting their usual combination. Hokitika must be' complimented on their neat and workmanlike appearance and on the sporting game they played. ! In the first half Hokitika had the better of the play and scored two goals. In the second half play went in Reefton’s favour and one goal being scored and there being several close escapes from further scores. For the winners, 0. Stapleton at centre half was a tower of strength, while Mrs Butson, M. Hughes, M. Sumner and P. Dowell shone out from a well balanced team. For Reefton P. Kearns played her usual 9ol:d game, while A. Patterson, at half, put in great work, holding the team*together. Of the forwards, J. Taaffe, Mrs McCarthy and D, Perry were a dangerous trio.
