PACIFIC REJATI ON S. DELEGATES TO CONFERENCE. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 27. At least three delegates will .represent New .Zealand at the conference of the Institute of Pacific Relations to be held at Hangchow next October. The selection of Messrs H. F. von Haast (Wellington); J. Er Strachart (Canterbury) and W. T.' G. Airey (Auckland) as delegates was.; confirmed, at a meet-, ing of the National Council of the Institute to day. There is every likelihood of three other delegates from New j Zealand attending the conference, but j their presence depends upon private | and business • arrangements. Mr j Straehan will he chairman of the delegation. CANDIDATE FOR KATAPOJ. CHRISTCHURCH. July 29. Rov. J. K. Archer has been selected as the Labour candidate for Kaiapoi seat. At the Supreme Court, John Albert Henry Schwass, a farmer of Tokamaru, was found guilty on a charge of false pretences and admitted to probation for two years conditional on paving the costs of the action.
