SUPERANNUATION
•PUBLIC SERVICE FUND. JDy Telegraph, Per Press Association. £! WELLINGTON, July 28. Additional pensions, totalling £29,61.8, were paid - out of the Public Service iSuperannuation Fund during the last financial year, according to the annual report of the Public Service Superannuation Board, which was tabled in the iHoiise to-night. For age, or length of service, the sum of £23,536 was paid to 208 members! For medical unfitness for cluty, £2,219 was paid to 25 members. To widows and- children oi deceased members, £2387 per annum was paid to 77 widows and £1248 per annum to 48 children. It is shown that Che new contributors who joined the scheme during the year totalled: 830, their total annual salary being £146,335, and their total annual contribution to the fund amounted to £BISB, thus bringing the total contributors to 18,197 with a salary total of £4,960,187 ; out of which they contributed £270,316 to the fund during the year. The total income of the fund amounted to £537,285, of which £101,361 was contributed by the. Government, and £162,888 'came from interest on investments. HAW ERA COUNTY JUBILEE. RAWER A, July 28. The fiftieth anniversary of the constitution of the Hawera County, which was established on July 28, 1881, was celebrated to-day at a dinner which was attended bv representatives of all the local bodies of the province. Air J. B. Murdoch, Chairman of the County Council since 191.4, presided. The exCouncillors present included Mr G. A. Merchant,of Cardiff, the only surviving member in New Zealand of the original Council.
