NELSON OUTRAGE
TAXI DRIVER -BATTERED. (By Telegraph—Per Press A ssociation) NELSON, July 27. Between two and three o’clock this morning, Richard Rawson, a taxi-driver, was found unconscious, lying on the l’oad, alongside his car in Bridge Street. The driver's pockets had'been rifled. His empty wallet was on the road beside him. The engine • of Rawson s car was turned off, but the lights were full o.n. The driver was admitted to the Nelson Hospital suffering from concussion and from a heavy bruise on the temple. .He was unconscious for several hours. Up to the present no particulars are available as to how Rawson sustained his injuries. The hospital reported a slight improvement this afternoon.
