BORSTAL FOR OFFENDER
(By Telegraph —Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, .July 23. Stanley Clifford York, aged 21, a motor driver, was sentenced J>y Magistrate Mosley to detention at Borstal for two years for assaulting a night watchman early on Sunday last. Previously Thomas Moncricff Stechman was fined £lO, in default one month, for the same offence. The evidence showed the watchman had been eseverely knocked about. COURT SENTENCES. CHRISTCHURCH, July 24. Prisoners sentenced by Judge Adams were :—Leonard Carpenter and Alfred Norman O’Meara for breaking, entering and theft at Kaikoura, two years reformative. Patrick John Sheridan, for theft of £230. Counsel said that prisoner lost several contracts at Queenstown as a (rtesuJt of the enfce. Prison also received two years reformative.
