LATE LOCALS.

A Bill to extend the age during which privates in the volunteer , force may remain in training, from 25 years as formerly to 35 years, before being; transferred to the reserve will be introduced by the Hon. J. G. Cobbe into the House of Representative® this week. As pointed out in the 1930 "session w-hen' the Defence Amendment Bib was before the House, there as no necessity to introduce new; legislation to provide for volunteer training, but there is need for an Act extending the age up to which men may train. TinGovernment apparently felt that to bring down legislation instituting the volunteer system would open up the whole question of national defence again with a likelihood of the BO 1 suffering the same fate as in 1939 when it was rejected by/ the Uppei House.
