Winged raiders from an/enemy country, “Blueland,” swept towards London, the capital’ of “Redland,” the destruction of which they plotted in. a steady downpour of rain and dulled evening skies. The raiders advanced in three groups, of t,\vo bombing squadrons apiece, each comprising nine .machines,', Fifty-four aeroplanes thus menaced England’s heart; but London was in-, stantly alert, scores of defensive fighters soaring skywards and joining, fiercely in combat. Vital centres were the Hackney Marshes Reservoir (the destruction of which would cause London to perish of thirst), and the West. India Docks (crowded with foodstuffs supplying provender, lest the street-bred people died). The Duke of York’s Barracks at •Chelsea was a strategic military strongpoint. The issue must remain undecided until morning.
