There was a strong north-west wind when they left, which gradually increased to gAle force and continued throughout the night. 'North-west and south-east gales have prevailed since then. 1 bate spoken to the steamer. “Cape of Good Hope,” which is about one hundred miles north west of Chatham Islands, to- keep a lookout for tiie missing vessel.”

The following message lias been re-' ! reived bv the Secretary of the P. and |T. Dept, from the Sunt, of the radio station at Chatham Islands : —Missing Launch Tearoha carried eleven men bound for Owenga to attend a football match. Tlie launch is thirty six feet long. There is a remote possibility that she was able t r reach Pitt Island. A launch, has been standing by at (>\ve"ga to proceed there when the sea moderates. It is the New Zealand Fisheries largest launch. Also a man is standing by at Kamgaroia, to proceed in search, hut exceptional gales with very heavy seas have prevailed since Friday and the wind is still at gale force. I The master of the steamer “Cape of Good Hope” advised yesterday that his shin was too far to the westward to he of assistance in the search. The following ,are the names of those on hoard: —B. R-enii, Joseph Payntei, Will'am Paviiter, Edward Thompson, Michael Thompson, Waiti Thompson. Lisbon Ashton, James Whnitiri, H. Stem R-ii'invu Wiki, Tanka Ngaia. All are residents, of Kaingaroa.
