FATAL FIRE IN PA

INQUEST CONCLUDED. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) AUCKLAND, July 7. The inquest on Rangi. Matahaere and his five children who were burmed to death in a whar e at Paparama Pa on Wednesday night has been concluded at Hamilton. The evidence of several Native inhabitants of the pa showed that Matahaere had been peculiar in his manner since, his wife died twelve months ago. He was moody and sometimes refused to speak to other Natives. They noticed nothing unusual about his conduct on tile day of the tragedy, and did hot know a fire had occurred until they were informed by the little girl who had escaped. A verdict.was returned that all six victims were burned to death in the whare, hut there was insufficient evidence to showw how the whare caugiit fire.
