ANNUAL MEETING.
[By Telegraph, Per Press Association
CHRISTCHURCH, July 9.
The annual meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Council opened to-day. The Chairman, Mr H. B. Oakev, congratulated Auckland executive on the running of the last Dominion tournamet. The following officers were elected. —President: Mr iH. B. Oakey. Secretary: Mr W. J. Brass.
The meeting confirmed the donation of £IOO to the East 'Coast centre for reconstruction of their greens damaged by the quake, and approved of further grants being made. Hawkes Bay delegates said it would take £7OO to reconstruct the greens. They were deeply grateful for the grant. - The statement of receipts and expenditure discloses that - the year began with a credit balance at the Bank of New Zealand of £356 0s 3d, and ■ended with £3OB 12s Bd., The apparent deficit on the year's transactions is accounted for by a donation, of £IOO, which your council made to the East Coast centre in response to an urgent appeal for funds to assist in rehabilitating some of the greens which were practically ruined as a result of the recent'’’disastrous earthquake which visited that district. It is considered that the uctioy of your council in this connexion will, 1 be readily endorsed by all bowlers throughout the Dominion. The object of the association is not primarily to accumulate an extensive credit balance, i but to acquire only sufficient funds to ensure effective management and to be in a position to respond in a practical manner to occasional urgent appeals of the above nature.
