KOKATAHI LILLIES
SUCCESSFUL TOUR, Last week South Westland was aroused with the oustanding performances of the Kokatahi Lillies, comprising about artists. On ’Monday 29th June, the parly motored from Ivokatahi to Franz Josef Glaciers, leaving Kokatahi at- 12.10 p.m. 4ind arriving at Graham’s, Waiho, at 6.15 p.m. where the party was received with an enthusiastic welcome by all Tie residents. That evening the p rformers gave the settlers a very outstanding programme. Being so much aroused, tin residents specially requested a second concert on the following evening, which was accepted and agreed to by the party. Dancing then continued until the early hours of the morning. Th following day the party all visited th : Glacier accompanied by Guides Joe Finely and J. Cox, when all were greatly overwin lined with the beauty of the sights, which shall long be remembered. That evening the performers put on a complete change of programme for tin settlers, which again was greatly appreciated. Supper wiis provided for tinparty by the iVYaiho residents, the firs: evening, and by Mr and .Mrs Graham J the second evening which was highly appreciated by the performers and their hospitality shall long be remembered. On Wednesday morning at the departure of the company for .Vlatainui. the Waiho ißostel staff presented Mr J. McCormack, Chairman of the Lillies, with a handsome Cup as an appreciation of their visit.
On arrival at Matainui, Mr Heyward placed his residence at the disposal ot the Lillies for lunch, his kindness beinv much appreciated. In the evening the company put on a very enjoyable programme, which was highly commend', d by all, and followed by a dance. On Thursday morning th? party continued their journey to Harihari showing there that evening to a packed house. After the dance the performers made
their way ,to Air Chisnell’s Hotel where an appreciat'd! was extended him tor his kindness. >
Leaving Harihari oil 'Friday morning for Ross, the company gave a very much appreciated programme, alter which was followed by a dance. Then the Company motored from Ross home in the early hours of /Saturday morning, completing their tour all well satisfied with their week's outing, which shall always 'be long remembered by the Kokatahi Lillies for the hospitality given them on their visits.
