. WEDNESDAY, JULY Bth. The IYA programme this evening, will consist of two one-act plays to be given by '.Mrs Zoe Bartley-Baxtcr and her company. One, “The Waterfall, • an incident of New Zealand bush life, was written by Aliss Marie Gaudfn, o* Auckland. Other items will be soprano solos by iMrs H. Timmings, a piano solo by i.Mr Cyril Towscy, instrumental items by .Miller's Banjo Quartet, saxophone solos by Mr Bert Kingsland, and solos by .Mr J). Edgar Thomas, a Welsh baritone, who is making his first appearance at this station. 2YA will continue with the presentation of the series of International Programmes. Relayed from Dunedin and broadcast by 3YA and 4YA this evening at 7.15, will be a dialogue by Mr iR. B. Tennent and Mir L. W. McCaskill on “'Farmer Brown Decides to Crow Lucerne.”
On 3YA’s popular programme there will be two singers—-Mrs Lillian Sommers (dramatic soprano), a teacher of singing* in Christchurch, and Mr Charles Dewhurst (bass, late of the Humphrey
Bishop Company). “The Two Rascals” will present a vaudeville turn. Bloy’s Banjo Band will provide twenty minutes of popular music. Pianoforte solos will be played by Miss Aileen Warren and trios by the .Christchurch Broadcasting Trio. ,
A relay from His Majesty's Theatre, Dunedin, of a concert bv the Orchestral '■Society, will provide 4YA’s programme. The soloists are Miss Uaynor Paape, Mrs T. B. Pom ton, Mr J. Kennedy and Mr Win. "'Ruffe]]. The orchestral works include selections by Schubert, Mozart, Coleridge-Taylor and Massenet.
THURSDAY, JULY 9th. The IYA Studio concert this evening will be given by the Auckland Society of Musicians. Two well known Auckland vocalists will appear on the programme. Miss Patricia McLeon (lyric soprano) and Mr A B. Thompson (baritone).
A studio concert will be given by the 'Wellington Artillery Band and 2YA artists. Jt ms that should prove of interest will he three songs to be sung by Ilr It. J. Madigan (bass); “Ochonc, Bridget O’Flynn,” “Katie McGee” and
“The Bosun's Adoice,” all three written and composed by Air Harry Coventry, of Wellington. Also on the programme will he a piano lecture-recital with introductory comments by Mr Sydney (Francis Hoben.,Miss Mabel Dyer (contra ftoji and Mr Edgar Swain (tenor) will be heard in due's and solos, and a solo on the vibraphone will be given by Miss Joyce Morgan. The band will present a well selected programme of overtures, marches and novelties. A. feature will be ,the cornet duet ''Two Comrades’’ by Rimmer with band accompaniment, to be played by Sergeants Bowman and Johnston. The Melodious Four at 3YA .will sing a number of concerted songs, including two negro spirituals, an old English song “To the .Maypole” and the old favourite, “Sweet and Low.” Soprano solos will be contributed by Miss Frances Hamerton and mezzo-contralto songs by Miss Mil\icen.t Jennings. Mr Russell Sumner will sing Schubert’s “Serenade” and Edgar’s “Pleading.” Bass solos by Mr T. D. Williams will be Schumann’s “My Abode” and Pinsuti’s “1 Fear no Foe.” On the instrumental side of the programme, Miss Irene Morris will contribute violin solos and Mr A. E. (Hutton flute solos, while selections will be played by the Studio Octet. Silent’day at 4YA.,
