(By Telegraph—Per Press Association) BLENHEIM, July 8. James Bootes pleaded guilty to a charge of false pretences, and was sentenced to a month’s hard labour. Accused had secured the sum of £9 17s from the Havelock Unemployment Committee by stating lie was maintaining three children. He was thus given work on four days per week under the unemployment scheme, whereas he had no dependent and was entitled to only two days work per week.
