July 1. Sir Oliver Lambert, an 18-year-old Irish baronet, lias eclipsed the one day golf endurance record. He began at 3.3 Q a.m. and continued until dark, when ho whs forced to stop. He walked 50 miles and played 1800 strokes, ending the fourteenth round with 95. The only food he had throughout the day were a sandwich, two glasses of milk' and a glass of lemonade. Thei previous record was made in Scotland in 1927, when 14 rounds were played between dawn and sunset.
