NEW FRENCH CONSUL
ARRIVAL OF M. JOUBERT. AUCKLAND, June 29. M. Edouard M. V. M. Joubert, who has been appointed to the post of Con-sul-ior France in. New Zealand and its dependencies, said on his arrival by the Niagara from Sydney this morning that he would do his best to improve economic relations between New Zealand and France. Speaking in French, JVjf.',- -joubert said he was very happy to come to this Dominion, and was highly delighted when,, the President of-France advised him. of his appointf.ieht. For the past twelve years he has. heen stationed at Prague, Czechofcjioycilcia-, .and'-lfad had previous experience of. consular work at Bremen and Rotterdam. He could converse freely in -tile Russian, German and Czech languages, but admitted that the English language—was- a ,little- difficult for him. -v- -i.
