A.n axe was the weapon used on .John Arthur Belsey by an assailant at Brighton on Saturday night. It now transpires that last night the police obtained lb- 1 axe from a h cling place in a back street in the city. David William Forsyth, 21, single was this morning charged, that on June 2r.h near'Brighton, he did actual bodily harm to Belsey.
The Chief Detective in seeking an 8 day remand stated Belsey was n a bau way, and the Pol c-e did not know actually how he would fare. A remand was granted without bail. [Belsev’s condition to-day is report'd as improved. It is yet uncertain whether a fractured skull is among h s injuries.
