A SHOPLIFTER
CAUGHT IN DRAPERY ESTABLISHMENT. \liy Telegraph —Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 27. Jane Barnett, aged 55 years, was today convicted of' shoplifting; and she was ordered to come up for sentence if called on, and to pay 10s restitution, the value of damaged goods that were recovered from her. When detected in a drapery shop, slie had goods to the value of £7/5/4 in her possession, and another £l/17/6 worth of goods was found in her home.
It was stated that she was married but living apart from her husband, and was in very poor circumstances with a son and daughter, while the son was not working. The accused: Will von suppress my name for the sake of my family ? Mr McNeil, S.M.: 1 am not going to suppress names in shoplifting cases. It Is not fair to the shopke. pers.
