SPANISH ELECTIONS
FEAR. OF BLOODSHED. (United Press Association.—By Electrio Telegraph.—Copyright. 1 MADRID, June 22. The Government laxity in suppressing extremists’ demonstrations has caused the Liberal leaders, Count Romanoes and Senor Alhucetnas to withdraw their candidatures from the general election on November 28. A crowd threatened the life of the Reformist, Senor Alvares, and destroyed a hall in which he was to speak. Senor Alvares also withdrew from the contest.
Cabinet Ministers are violently attacking each other and their ideals.
The fear of bloodshed is driving the Conservatives from the contest.
THE CANDIDATES. (Received this day at 8 n.m.) LONDON, June 23. The “Times” correspondent, at Madrid says 990 candidates representing 25 parties, will contest 470 seats at the coming elections including 120 Republicans; 115 Socialist Republicans, 104 Socialists, 58 Catholic Partyites, 22 Communists and only 6 Monarchists.
