WHEAT DUTIES
(By Telegraph—Per Press Association) TIMARU, June 19. A meeting was convened to-day bj the Labour Party to discuss the question of the sliding scale of wheat duties. It was largely attended by farmers and by others interested in the question of wheat production. Addresses were delivered by Mr J. McCombs, M.P.. Rev. Clyde Carr, M.P., Mr T. I). Burnett. M-P- 'l’he Labour members expressed themselves a s being emphatically in favour of the retention of the present duties, and in favour of the price of wheat paid the fanners being four and uinepence per bushel on trucks.
