RUSSIAN TIMBER
MR SCULLIN’S STATEMENT. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.j (Received this day at 9 a..m.) CANBERRA, June 20. The Prime Minister in a statement concerning the Russian timber shipment (cabled on the 18th) said the Government had no power to check Russian imports. There is a heav\ customs tariff on all foreign timbers, and the Government had no means of ascertaining whether the consignment was produced by iorced labour, but inquiries are continuing.
