TREATY WITH CANADA
DOOR NOT YET BOLTED. AUOKLA v D. .Tune 15. “1 am led to believe the door is not yet slammed, barred, and bolted against Xew Zealand so far as the Canadian duties are concerned,’’ said Mr A. M. Samuel, M.P. for Thames, on arrival bv the Xiaaara to-day. “I think there is still an opening for a reciprocal agreement between the ,two countries." said Mr Samuel. “It is common talk in the sister Dominion that Australia put one over New Zealand. I have had interviews with influential people in Canada who all fee] ■that there is still time for the problem to be solved, and it seems a pity that reprisals should be enforced which m ',rjhl. bar any friendly overtures in the future.’’
