The success achieved by Miss Rita Morgan at the Christchurch Competitions has been added to by the award of a handsome gold medal allooted to Miss Morgan as the most consistent and promising vocal performer at the Competitions. This 'is a very nice tribute to earn in open competition with the best of Canterbury talent, and the young huly is to be congratulated and complimented on the well sustained success throughout the Metropolitan Competition. •
“You have in Auckland one of the most wonderful yacht racing and cruising grounds in the world.” said RearAdmiral 'Geoffrey Blake at the prizegiving of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, reports the “New Zealand Herald.” Mentioning that lie had been stationed in various parts of the world and was familiar with the Solent in England, Rear-Admiral Blake said lie had seen nothing to excel tbe Hauraki Gulf, which possessed wonderfully sat'anchorages, a prevailing wind which gave smooth water in certain areas, and good fishing.
