The Arbitration Court’s ten per cent cut in wages has, it is understood met with resistance by the members oi the Cooks’ and Steward’ Union in the case of tiie Union Company’s vessels Waimarino and Katun ,at present at Wellington. It is understood that an application by tiie Union for a new award is to come before the Court on June 19th. and that an application for exemption from tiie ten per cent, cut has already been filed.

The steamer Waimarino is held up because the cooks and stewards refuse to sign fresh articles introducing a ten per cent, reduction in their wages This is the first resistance made to t.Jie cut.
