LOVER ATTACKED
- A‘GIRL AND PISTOL, RECONCILIATION EFFECTED, (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) AUCKLAND, Juno 13. “Now pay—or I’ll shoot.” Armed with vicious-looking 0.177 air pistol, a pretty nineteen-year-old girl, with blazing eyes, covered a man in a Shortland Street shop yesterday morning. She alleged he owed her £lO.
Behind this story is a love drama. The man and the girl had been living together, They had quarrelled yesterday morning. The girl—a dark-haired foreigner—went into a city sports de-‘ pot. “I want to buy ze little pistol,” she said. The attendant refused to sell one because the girl did npt have a permit. “What do you want it for?” he asked. “Oh, for ze sport,” was the evasive reply. Air pistols were exhibited and eventually she bought one and paid £2/7/6 cash. That was at 9.30. Three hours later the girl made her dramatic appearance in the man’s shop and, presenting the pistol as the man stood behind the counter, she demanded the money. She was held while a policemqn was called. The girl, crying bitterly, was taken bade to the sports shop; the revolver was returned and so was the money.
Now the girl and the man are friend, ly again.
