Referring to the delay in tne appointment of the five members of the Board of- Directors who are to take charge of the New Zealand railway system under the depoliticalisation legislation,, the Prime Aliuist e r to-day said ’that he was anxious to get the best available men for the Directorate, aiid he was now awaiting a reply from one gentleman, whom lie had approached for membership. Tla.’ personnel would be announced as s°on as possible, and lie expected to be able to make it public very shortly, and certainly before the end of this week.
Rumour has it that Sir .Tames Gunson will be one member of the Board. It is also rumoured that three ol the other members will be a wellknown and popular Christchurch business man; a Dunedin accountant of repute, and a prominent representative of the farming interests.
Jt is understood that the Prime Minister’s main difficulty has been to secure the services of a Wellington representative.
