“Tins is just n case which exemplifies the value of post-mortems,” remarked the Auckland Coroner, Mr F. Iv. Hunt recently, referring to the death of a man who fell from a tram and received injuries from which he died. The postmortem revealed that death was due to cerebral hemorrhage and to the rupture of one of the main blood vessels in the head. It was probable that the hemorrhage occurred before the time of the fall. “If wo had not had that added information,” added the Coroner “it would have been natural to think that the internal bleeding took place after the fall, and not before it. There might even have been a manslaughter charge involved.”
