CUT RESTORED
BY CHRISTCHURCH COUNCIL. (By Teleyraph—Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Juiio 1. Tho Christchurch City Council decided this evening to restore the ten pgr cent, reduction made in the wages and salaries of tha Council employees, and also to return to the rate of 15s -Id a day for the unemployment relief work. The voting was on party lines, the Labour members on the Council prevailing by nine votes to eight. in reply to a question, the Mayor, -Mr D. G. Sullivan, M.P.. said that the effect of the motion would be that the reduction made in the salaries and the wages of the Council’s permanent employees would be restored retrospectively. The Canterbury Branch of the New Zealand Real Estate Institute decided to-nigiit to recommend the parent body t:o abandon its annual conference this yeat;, and to devote tbe money saved, about £2OO, to assisting members in the Hawkes Bay district who few exceptions all Canadian exports to had heen affected by tbe earthquake.
