WANGANUI CUTS
ENO INEEM ON H A LE- TIME, (liy Telegraph—Per Press Association) WANGANUI.. June 1. Economic* arc being effected by the Wanganui Harbour Board as follows: Salaries in excess of £27/5 arc being reduced by ten per cent. Wages not governed by awards and under £275 are being reduced by five per cent. Wages governed by awards ano be ing reduced by ton per cent, from the existing rate of Is lid per hour, which is one penny more than .the award rate. 'Hie Board Ims resolved that the Resident Engineer’s salary shall be reduced by half, and that hie be employed half time till the loan nione.y being raised is functioning. The Board ha s also resolved that the Harbourmaster be given twelve months’ leave, three months of these lining on full pay, and that at the end of twelve months he be placed on the superannuated list. The Board has decided that the pilots be promoted at their existing salaries. After these “cuts.” the Board has levied the same rate as last year, namely, three-eighths of a penny on the city, and three-sixtenths of a penny on the country area.
