DROP IN REVENUE. telegraph, Per Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, May l -S. Considerable reference to the unsuccessful racing season was made at tho annual meeting o. the Canterbury Jockey Club yesterday. Hopes that the Club’s liability would be wiped out within the next few years were now gone, it was stated, The chairman, (A. A. Knight) pointed out that there was a debit balance amounting-to £SOOO. The revenue had fallen 50 per cent and it was inevitable that stakes should be reduced.
Tluj treasurer said the totalisator returns were affected by the increased taxation, hut it had to be admitted that the falling off in attendance was largely to blame.
