The death occurred at the O’Conor Home, Westport, on Monday night of Michael Joseph Ryan at the age of 101. The late Mr Ryan who wa,s a native of County Carlo, Ireland has been an inmate of the Home since it- was opened and has Been over 60 years on the West Coast. On leaving Ireland, the late Mr Ryan went to Australia, but when the gold rush started on the Coast, Air Ryan along with others, came t-o New Zealand. that the new Chairman could not do better than follow the advice given by Mr Ward as to his course of procedure during his term of offic. In the afternoon when a discussion took place in connection with noxious weeds in which Mr Jeffries was urging action being taken to ensure property holders clearing the noxious weeds off their properties where the Council had been clearing the road frontages. Air Ward caused a laugh by stating that earlier in the day the Council had been advised to follow his (Mr W ard s) advice, and in this instance he was onposed to the action recommended by Air Jeffries, being taken.
