The Vatican has formally protested against the new decree of the Government for the establishing of liberty of worship in Spain, pointing out that the Concordat provides that Roman Catholicism shall be the exclusive Spanish religion. The departure of the Bishop of Madrid from the Dio c es e is interpreted as a protest against the Government policy. Despite the attacks that were made on the convents, it is intended to hold religious processions, which are becoming increasingly popular.
