SOUTHERN HAWKES BAY.

D ANNEVIRKB, May 22,
The provincial executive of the southern Hawkes Bay Farmers Union decided to favour the retention of the embargo on the importation of live stock from England and other countries where foot' and mouth disease prevails.
11 was also decided to refer the Dominion executive to the proposed Road Users Association with a view to having the proposal discussed at the Dominion Conference, opinion being expressed that it might be detrimental to farmers interest.
Tu regard to land ballots, it was decided to forward a remit to the Dominion Conference : —(a) That where two or more of one family are in a ballot for Crown land and one draws a section the remainder of the family automatically drop out unless there are no other applicants in the remaining sections.
(b) Preference ballots to he given returned soldiers and maimed men providing they have sufficient finance.
