WILLI AN HENRY NEWMAN,
AETAT 53
The death of Air William Henry Newman head of the firm of Newmans Alotors Ltd. of Hokitika, took place last night at his residence, Weld Street. The deceased had been in failing health for some considerable time past, but had appeared to be improving slowly. Last evening he had a sudden heart seizure and passed away almost immediately. The deceased was a member of the well known firm of Royal Alail contractors, who formerly had coaching services in all parts of the West Coast, Some years ago Al.r Newman took over Ihe well known business of Newmans Alotors Ltd. from his brother Mr Rod Newman, and lie has proven a capable administrator of the extensive busin,ss. Of a very quiet nature, Mr Newii.sm has won a host of friends duiing hjs residence amongst us and has been a very generous supporter in all matters pertaining to the welfare of the district generally, giving freely in any worthy cause. His death will cause a blank that it will bb hard to fill. The deceased was born at Wairau Valley, Marlborough, and wa s 53 years of age. He leaves a widow and one son (Mr Harry Newman of Hokitika), two sisters (Airs Baigent of Nelson, and Mrs Purc-has of Christchurch) and four brothers (Air George Newman in Australia, Air Rod Newman of Napier, Mr Frank Newman of AVanganui, and Mr Clifford Newman of Nelson).
