CREW RESENTFUL
RESTRICTION ON LANDING AT HONOLULU. AUCKLAND, May 18. When the Aor a ngi reached Honolulu from Vancouver the Customs officials, invoking an. old l aw b refused to permit any member of the crew to land he bad undergone a rigorous medical examination. For twelve years the crew have been allowed ashore, and there was no restriction on the ship’s northern voyage. The crew’s delegates interviewed the officials, who remained adamant, with the result that' of the ship’s company of 350 only six went ashore, and those were on official business. The crew refused on principle to submit themselves to the new examination, although willing, as usual, to undergo the same examination as the passengers. On the arrival of the ship yesterday members of the crew were indignant. They (expressed the view that the American action was another move in the trade war.
