AN INQUEST

An inquest was held at Weheka on Thursday May J 4th, by Mr F. G. Williams J.P., acting Coroner and a jury consisting of Messrs Fred Compton (foreman) A. Barrett, J. Sullivan and M. Sullivan, touching the death of James Duncan. After hearing evidence, the jury returned the following verdict.—That the deceased, James Duncan, met his death by gunshot wounds, self-inflicted, while in a very bad state of health, on 13th May at Weheka. The deceased was a builder. 57, years of age. The deceased had gone to a hut near bv, occupied by Leslie McKenzie, had got his gun which was then unloaded, and g°ne to a paddock a few chains away and shot himself, the body being found on top of the gun with both barrels discharged, apparently having put the muzzle in his mouth and discharged both barrels.
