FOOTBALLERS INJURED

When playing football on Saturday two juniors sustained broken legs, one W. Mitchell, aged 24, suffering a double fracture. The other, Alaurice Edwards, 20j was unaware; of a broken tibia until he walked into town after the match. STRUCK BY MOTOR CYCLE. GIRL DIES FROM INJURIES. WHANGAREI, May 18. Florence Brut, aged 24, unmarried, when returning home on Saturday evening was struck by a motor cycle ridden by Arthur BaUiance. The cyclist was.tr.yiug to swerve when the .machine \skidded and collided with the woman, who wa S ' taken to the hospital with a double fracture of the base of the skull. She died on Sunday afternoon. The cyclist received Concussion, and is <n the hospital, but is doing well. UKSUL'T OF MOTOR-CYCTF COLLISION', CHRISTCHURCH, May IIL Joseph Fox, barman at the New City Hotel, who received injuries as a result of a collision with a motor-cycle at the corner of Dundas and Colombo Streets at eight o’clock on Tuesday
evening, is nt present in & serious con** dit ion at the Christ church Hospital. Ho was taken to .the Hospital on Tues dav evening, when he was treated as an outpatient, but his condition became worse and lie was admitted as a patient on Tuesday at noon. He resides at 10, Radnor Street. St. Albans He is suffering from cerebral haemorrhage.
RAILWAY SHOP DISMISSALS. DUNEDIN. M»y 18. 43 men from Hillside railway shops have been dismissed as from Thursday next. Mr Munro M.P., wired to Hon. Voitch and expressed the hope that all these men would be kept on, pointing out that some were shifted here from Addington with an assurance of continued employment.
