COM MINED MEET!NG. A meeting of tile Committee of the Westlan c | Racing Club was held on Saturday evening. . Present; Messrs W. E. Williams (Chair) A. W. Yarnill, H. Rutland, C, J. P. Sellers, F. McGregor, J. J. Mclntosh. R. Whiley, D. J. Evans, H. Newman, H. T. Parry.

It was explained the meeting was called specially to pass the regulations under the Racing Act regulating the admission of the public to the Grevmouth racecourse at Omoto next month The matter was brought forward at- the request of the Racing Conference.

The Chairman moved the necessary motion which was seconded by Mr F. IMcG I'egor and carried, and ordered to be forwarded to the Government Department for approval thereof. Respecting the approaching combined meeting, the Secretary stated, the arrangements were going forward very satisfactorily. The Racing Conference had advised the extra permit was available, and the two days’ programme had been prepared, passed and published. Entries close this day week. Mr Fogarty of the Greymoutli Jockey Club was the General Secretary and was completing the necessary arrangements for the two days’ racing at'Omoto.

The Westland Breweries Ltd., Greymouth, has offered to supply the racecourse booth with requirements, and this kind offer bad been accepted with thanks- An earlier offer had been received and accepted from Mr A. Grogan, Grey mouth.* to simply cordials and aerated waters required. This generous help was much appreciated by the Committee. The totalisator would'be worked at Greymoutli by Mr H. .Tames and staff’ on terms which offered a concession to the Club, and had been accepted. A letter was received from the Westport Jockey Club expressing svmpathv with the Club in its fii'e loss, and enclosing a cheque for £5 ss. A vote of thanks was passed for the practical'’ assistances, afforded. Advice wag received from Mr Fogarty ’ that the ladies :of Orevmouth were organising the Rabe. Ball fired for June 5, at SeTiaef’s Hall, and the ball would he patronised vprv liberally. Already there was a demand for tickets, and it would be necessary to limit the sale to avoid over-crowding. Tickets will be on sale locally during the week. The Melody Orchestra had kindly offered its services for the ball, and Messrs Newmans Motors Ltd. would .provide the transport for the. orchestra. ,
