MR J. MAR.CHBANKS A LIKELY MEMBER. WELLINGTON, M«y 14. i The- personnel of the Railway Directorate, to be announced shortly, is exuecte t } to include Mr .Dim's Marchbanks, a member of the .Institute of Civil Engineers and manager and engineer to the Wellington Harbour Board. He was formerly manager of the WelUngton-Mannwntu railway, which was purchased by 411 1> Government on the completion of the main trunk line. Mr M,a<-chbanks was a member of the Railway Commission which recommended a large number ol economies in the Department- and a ehang.' from political control.
As five directors have to be appointed, it Is understood that the Government is desirous of making the directorate representative of all parts ol the Dominion.
