WESTPORT BLAZE. TREGURTHA’S SHOP GUTTED. (By Telegraph —Per Press Association) ( WESTPORT, May 11. To-night about 10.35. just after the pictures caine out, an alarm oi lire was given, the outbreak being next door to tlie talkie theatre, the Victoria Theatre, in Palmerston Street, at the ironmongery shop of Mr Percy Tregurtlui. The Fire Brigade were quickly on the scene, but the fire had a good hold before the alarm was given, and was no chance for the Brigade to do anything with the shop or its contents The Brigade devoted its attention to saving the Victoria Theatre, in which they were successful. The shop, which was stocked with ironmongery, crockery, paints, etc., was completely gutted, and none of the contents was got out. There were two compartments m the shop, which was mostly destroyed. The stock was valued at about VI7OO, whilst it was insured for L'HOO. .The insurance on the building is not ascertainable at present.
