WAGE REDUCTIONS

TO-DAY’S HEARING. (Jty l'eleyrapk —Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, May It. The Arbitration Court commences tomorrow the hearing of the application that has been lodged by tbe New -Zen land Employers’ Federation under the terms of the Finance Act, 1931 for the issue of a General Order reducing the wages paid under the various awards.

The amount of the reduction suggested has not been disclosed. The case for the employers will be handled by the Seceretar.v of the Federation, Air T. O. Bis V-p, who will open the proceedings with a state ment setting out the reasons for the application. Air Jas. McCombs; ALP., and Air W. T. Young (Secretary of the Wel- ' Oinfton Woollen Alills Employees’ Union, and formerly Secretary of the New Zealand Seamen’s Federation), will state the case on behalf of the Trades Councils Federation. A representative of the AMiance of Labour will also appear, as well as advocates on behalf of particular unions.
