’QUAKES CONTINUE. ALARM AT WAIROA. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) WAIROA, A lay 8. Yesterday people were greatly alarmshocks of the rocking type, causing them to rush out of buildings Tremors occurred during the whole day and night. ’Those at 3.30. 4.30, and 8.18 p.ni. were very seven', as bad as anything felt since the big shake on 3rd February. .Many breakages are reported and a number of rebuilt chimneys aie down again in the country. Since 9.15 last night no further quakes have been experienced at Gisborne.
Tinirotn, however, reports that between 9 p.m. ami 0 a.m.. then' were 107 shakes, varying in intensity and still continuing. Residents of the district numbering about forty, left their homes a ltd spent the night at the hotel, sleeping on floors in the passages.
