Cliff Edwards, as a comedy cowboy with a ukulele, and Roily Moran as the ranch cook keep the audience hil- ! arious when Haines is otherwise engaged. Francis N. Bushman, jr., is seen a« the cowboy rival for the hand of Lie heroine, and Charles B. Middleton up pears as Buck her luoiher and ranch toroma n.
Buddy Roosevelt, well known as & Western star, with Jack Peuniek and Jay Wilsey, furnish a scries of riding thrills. Haines’ battle with the cow boys in the deserted pueblo, the attempted lynching party, the thrilling rescue ride with -Miss ll.vams, and other hits of excitement keep the ston moving at lightning speed throughout
Fred Nibol displayed an unusually competent sense of comedy value in the direction of Haines’ latest talkie, which is all the more surprising in consideration of the fact that it is the first comedy in seven years. Niblo maintains that slapstick must he handled with care and that a certain amount of subtlety is appreciated by modern movie audiences even in comedy. He has done a splendid j'' 1 ' with “Way Out West”.
