CVFRYBODYS PICTURES. ANN HARDING IN “HOLIDAY.” TO-NIGHT AND THURSDAY. One of the most difficult things in casting a. picture is the selecting oi players wlio are supposed to he members of the same family in the story, declares Edward H. Griffith. A certain resemblance is necessary if the illusion of 'blood relationship is to he carried out. Since most actors or actresses attain fame because of their individuality, this is rather difficult to achieve. Director Griffith was faced with this task when lie began work on “Holiday,” the Rathe picturisation of the Philip Barry drama which was his most recent screen, assignment. Ann Harding fills the featured lead in the picture, and it was necessary to find players who could convincingly portray her sister and brother. After a thorough survey of the players available, Mr Griffith finally settled upon Mary Astor for the sister and a New York stage actor, Monroe Owsley, for the brother. “While none of the three bear a decided resemblance, all are good-looking in a clear-cut classical fashion,” explains the director. “Both Miss Harding and Miss Astor have the cameo type of feature, while Air Owsley’s facial contours are also sharply outlined. This quality will pick up sufficiently in the photography to give almost as much resemblance as usually exists between members of the same family. In addition to Miss Harding. Miss Astor and Mr Owsley, playing th© members of the Seton family, around whom the story revolves, the cast of “Holiday,” which wit! tic seen and heard at the Princess Theatre includes Ifdward Everett Horton, Robert Ames, Audrey Forrester. Heddn Hopper, William Holden, Elizabeth Forrester, .Creighton Hale and Hallam Cooley.
