THE COUNCIL. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association) V\ EiTJLINGTON, April 27. The Legislative Council met at 10.30 a. tn. Sir T. Sidey moved the second reading of the Finance Bill No. 2. Hon. Hawaii said there were several dangerous precedents *in the Bill but owing to the serious position of the finances they were forced to support it. The financial position was due to extravagances of tlie past. Sir F. I). Bell asked the Leader to look into the question whether the Government could legally take portion of the funds of the Government Life Insurance Department. Replying, Sir T.* Sidey said he was prepared to do what Sir F. D. Bell asked. Referring to Post Office funds, he said there was no mention of the Government to depart from the present system of setting aside certain amounts each year for depreciation and renewals. The Bill was read a. second time, put through the remaining stages, and’ Passed. The Council adjourned until 10.30 a.m. to-morrow, '
