ENGLISH SOCCER FINAL. A GAME IN THE MUD. .United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, April 25. The Soccer final at Wembley was the wettest in history. West Bromwich beat Birmingham by 2to 1. Rain poured throughout the day, drenching the thousands of provincials’ who were walking the streets and were reluctant to enter the ground early for a wait in the deluge. There were 92,406 present, including an unusually large uuin_ her of women. The usual number of “hard-ups” tramped from the provinces. The Duke of Gloucester came out in the downpour and -shook hands with the players. The ground was like a sponge, and was fit only for mudlarks. BIG ISSUES. (Received 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, April 26. With the cup final on Saturday, the census on Sunday, and the budget on Monday, it may be imagined that Britain is fully occupied with its own affairs, The whole city of Birmingham seemed to have migrated to London for the final. Amongst the -distinguished persons present were Air Ramsay MncDonald and his daughter and the Baldwins.
