The sequel to the Budget was the passing on of extra duty on petrol of three pence per gallon to the consumer. One company has continued to sell at the former price enabling retailers to undercut. A Boycott followed. A distributor coy. was compelled to comply and the Government retaliated by introducing a Bill titled “unlawful determination of prices,” which prohibit refusal to supply petrol and the fixation of price. A supplementary clause empowers the Government to extend provisions to other commodities. Tlie Bill has caused a tremendous stir.
