FIVE YEARS OLD
PRINCESS ELIZABETH A ROYAib BIRTHDAY. Princess E'i«abeth was five years old yesterday (Tuesday)—the best Known baby in the world and the fourth lady of the realm. Her life story began al 17, Brunton Street, eighteen months before the call of the Empire took her Royal parents to New Zealand ano Australia. A few weeks later tinbaby Princess Joined her grandparents at Buckingham Palace,
Through 1927 she learned to walk and talk, “mummy” being her first word she mastered perfectly, fn order to welcome the mother who left her an infant to return to a captivating small girl of one year and two months who was growing more amusing nnd interesting every day.
Like most babies Princess Elizabeth has her own name for herself "Lilliebeth”—her father and mother do not abbreviate the Elizabeth. Every mother in the land knows how charmingly the Princess is dressed. Simplicity sums up the Duchess’s views on this matter. She still has her white frocks for the morning, loose simple and yoked, and the afternoon frocks are full in the skirt with a plain small bodice and the waist-line in the middle. Her mother does not like the longwaisted style for children. The little girl often now wears primrose yellow or flower-like pink. Wild rose is the shade that suits her to perfection.
