LATE LOCALS.
There is a shortage of rabbits in (file country districts round Cflirist* church at present, according to accounts. A number were required for the gun dog trials at Saltwater Crock on Saturday, but the labour of securing them was found to be greater than at first thought. One man spent three days in the country and was rewarded with, a catch of four. A second took our four ferrets in the morning and returned at night with only three rabbits. Nominations for Hokitika Schoo. Committee closed last evening, only the required number, nine, being forthcoming. They are Messrs A. C. Arm strong. R. J. Redder. F. Chesterman W. 11. Shannon, J. J. Breeze. .E. Richards. FI. W. Swenev, J. Conning and A. McDougall. The Committee is tlu* same as that of last year except that .Mr McDougall replaces Airs J. H Wilson, who defines nomination again on the ground of ill health.
