LIVING WAGE
N.S.W. EMPLOYERS’ NEW DE'H-ARATION. <Australian Press AssO'wUnn.) ' 1 . ; SYDNEY. April 2<». The Industrial Commission to-day refused an application made by a nun: her : of the employers’ ofganistnioiis for the declaration of a living wage. The argument for the applicants wa° that a precarious condition of industry and discrepancies in the wag' < paid in New South Wales and other States rendered the matter urgent. Mr Justice Piddington said that the Commission considered the inquiry asked for was unnecessary. because Parliament has already this matter in hand in the Arbitration Act Amendment, which has not yet been finally dealt with, it being before the Legislative Council Committee. If the Commission fixed the living rate now, Parliament would probably alter it.
