GRAZING RUN TENANTS
HARDSHIP IN CANTERBURY. WELLINGTON, April 17. Small grazing run tenants in Canterbury have had their rents doubled, but their proceeds from the wool clip will not pay half the rent, stated Mr T. I). Burnett (Temuka) in requesting that they he given some relief. There is power under the Land Act, replied the Minister of Lands, by which in cases of hardship, rents of small grazing runs can be remitted for periods not exceeding five years in t-lm aggregate, or postpond for reasonable periods, it is open, therefore, to any lessee of a small grazing run who is detrimentally affected by the presuit financial depression to apply to fjhe T.nml Board for relief under that section.
